JACOB WILLIAMS
Co-creator, puppeteer, puppet maker
Jacob Williams is a freelance puppeteer, maker, painter and actor with over twenty years experience in the arts. He began performing as a child at Newcastle’s renowned Young People’s Theatre and hasn’t stopped since. He was a core artist at Terrapin Puppet Theatre in Hobart having appeared in works such as Stormy Nights, My Sister’s An Alien and Dark at the Top of the Stairs for the ’10 days on the Island Festival.’During 2004, he toured internationally with Black Hole Inc.’s production of Caravan which played to sold out audiences in Scotland, Poland, Ireland and England.
In 2001, he created the satirical musical The Jacqui Boo Boo Experience which was the hit of the Hobart Fringe. As ‘Jacqui’ he appeared along side Robin Archer as the host of ABC TV’s arts program for the ‘2001 10 Days on the Island Festival.’ On arriving in Melbourne in 2003, he created the Jacqui Boo Boo Variety Hour which was a four part episodic performance that brought together over fifteen performers. He has also created new works for Scienceworks Museum, most recently Hey Good Cooking and Electrifying Moments. During 2000, Jacob was also the creator of the Sydney CropFest finalist film Uggboot. Recently he has been carving his own puppets, combining his skills in visual arts and puppetry.
Jacob has recently completed a post-graduate degree at the Victoria College of the Arts Drama School in Animateuring (theatre making) He is also a skilled musician, having studied and played the flute, piano and guitar since childhood.
