Evaristo Aguilar

Evaristo Aguilar, percussionist/composer (Mexico)

Evaristo teaches at the Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas in Tampico, Mexico. He has studied in the United Kingdom, Mexico and Canada. Evaristo has been working with the huapango music (a traditional genre of the Mexican folklore in the Huasteca region) making adaptations for drumset and percussion and promoting this contemporary style a broad in events like Beijing Percussion Festival (Beijing, China), Voices of Percussion Festival (Vienna, Austria), JournÈes de la Percussion (Paris, France), PAS Days of Percussion (Stockholm, Sweden), Perkusja Festival (Warsaw, Poland) and the Puerto Rico International Percussion Festival (San Juan, Puerto Rico). He has released recordings of his compositions and toured Europe with the Global Percussion Network. He is the artistic director of the PercuSonidos Festival (Tampico International Percussion Festival) and founder president of the Percussive Arts Society, Mexico Chapter.
