Dario Vacirca
Dario is a contemporary artist and producer working across visual, performance and conceptual art. Dedicated to public art projects that transcend form and expectation, he has been creating original ‘new genre’ art works since leaving the 5 Angry Men and starting WELL in 1999.
In 2002, Dario initiated the ten-year project - Great Wall of Books - a large-scale participatory multi-art structure. Since 2007, Dario has led WELL through 3-month residencies with the project in Macau SAR, China, Melbourne, Mexico and Korea.
Dario was artist in residence at Bains::Connective in Brussels, Belgium in November 2007 - supported through the Aphids Myer Residency program. His work there was intimate, process driven and audienceoriented; creating durational live art environments experienced by one person at a time.
In 2009, Dario directed the live & online multiplying project Take Off Your Skin working with over 130 artists simultaneously in 6 cities as well as a host of smaller residencies, collaborations and art/s in Melbourne, Sydney and Sweden.
In development for WELL: new multi-stage cross art collaborations - down, a different earth and the trunk opera.
Dario is currently (mid 2011) gearing up for the 72 hr Urban Art Action in Melbourne and a visit to the other world of India for art there in 2012.
